3 weeks in, how is everyone doing? What has been lost? What has been found? This time of year can be both energising & overwhelming. The excitement of the new year brings so many emotions it’s a great time to check in with what exactly you want from this new year. I am reminded as I embark on more studies that daily routines are so important.
This is a busy house, to get some time and space to myself I get up earlier than everyone else. Beginning the day with quiet and 5 minutes meditation. Why?…because it works, it resets the body and brain to invite calmness in. There is so much science to back up how good meditation is for you. The mind and body are interconnected systems and this is what meditation does, it allows you to connect to your Whole Self. Honestly it doesn’t have to be anything fancy just a chair, get comfortable, set a time for 2 minutes, close your eyes and focus on your breath as an anchor. Don’t expect to stop thinking because that isn’t the purpose, just sit there and notice what happens. Following your breath each time a thought arises.
Next up is kids, breakfast, lunches, animals, daily schedules, music, sport it’s all part of each day. Some-one always forgets something, including the adults! Then a walk. We all know the benefit of getting some exercise in in the early morning. The light, the blue sky, the green grass all help to set you up for a good day but also a great night sleep that night.
Then work, begin to notice how creating time in your schedule for your full health allows you to take back time. The rush you felt before is no longer there or if it comes back occasionally that’s ok. It’s not permanent.
These practices of slowing down, building sustainable healthy routines are part of being on retreat with me. I will be in Ibiza next week and can’t wait to welcome you to this amazing island. You can also join in The Deerstone for a day retreat November 15th for a day of developing your own wellbeing plan and seeking how to sustain it. Book in or more info here.
Have you experience a Sound Bath? The power of sound post yoga works to align the practice with your inner vibrations. An experience to evoke peace, calm & clarity. A full-body listening experience that intentionally uses sound to invite gentle yet powerful therapeutic and restorative effects of the mind and body. This is not to be missed. Check out Emma’s work. She has worked in the NCH, Electric Picnic with many corporates and events around Ireland.
To bathe in nature is to realign, so each Saturday at 11am set aside the time to come to Park Yoga. Make it a non negotiable in your diary. You can book in here.
Grá mór,
Chris
