26/03/2021 — ZoomMany of us have taken up running recently, or maybe you’re an experienced runner who wants to go a little further in distance or speed. Then join Maria McCambridge and Chris Molloy for this Runners Workshop with an Olympian, Friday 26th March @ 7pm – 8.30pm via Zoom.
Cost – €20. 20% discount to those on 30 days of yoga.
Maria McCambridge is a long distance runner who competed in mostly 3,000 & 5,000 metre races before moving to marathon running with a PB of 2:35 in Dublin 2012, mother, wife. She has represented Ireland in the Olympics and competed in 3 outdoor & 3 indoor World Championships.
During this workshop Maria will take us through how she got into running, what motivates her, what her training looks like now and before having children. How you unlock your body’s full potential, through mind & body strength. Recovery, nutrition for optimum health & training meal planner. Coming back from injury.
If you’re starting your running journey what are the key points to know? Is it a good idea to vary the length, speed of your run. Format of speed, how to improve long distance time. How do you run faster for longer. Maria will share her most enjoyable marathon course in the world & what she’s looking forward to (post lockdown).
Chris Molloy, yoga teacher (not an Olympian), wife & mother will then take people through 5 simple Yoga poses that engage the main muscles (quads, glutes, core) we use when running to increase mobility & help reduce possibility of injury. I will talk about efficiency of breath. Engaging the core when running and look at balance and why it’s so important
Why do you run? Answer that honestly and then help to find out your motivator for improving. In sports & exercise we are either working with or against our bodies. Through this workshop we will seek to help you understand how to work with your breath, to gain insights & techniques from an Olympian to improve your overall running performance. If you’re new to running this is perfect to ensure you start in the best possible form.
