Well last week was a wash out in terms in classes which gave me all sorts of feelings of failure which then had the knock on affect of hitting my sleep. Trying to control the weather is like trying to control running water you simply just can’t. The knock on effect is that this affected my sleep, and as we know Sleep is your super power so basically I have been running on empty for the past week.
We know that sleep is a must for our bodies to heal, to repair but beyond that to just function normally. It is non negotiable our bodies need it. I am in my forties, it is expected that my sleep would be disturbed with kids, hormones, cats (I talk alot about the cats) but also work. Honestly I need at least 7/8 hours sleep a night but rarely get this. So what can I do to change this?
Earlier in the year lots of people told me how their sleep was affected by Covid, worrying about so many things that were spiralling out of control. So many spinning plates. As our world reopens we may have new concerns, compounded together that’s alot of worry.
Intentional Behaviour
This week I am going to be more intentional about my behaviour patterns. Have you heard of REST? Relax, Evaluate, Set an Intention, Take Action. For me it looks like this – going to get to bed by a certain time which allows me to be up on time to swim. Drink more water, eat less sugar. Meditate at the start of every day for a few minutes (I let this be organic, some days it’s 5 minutes other days longer). I don’t want this deficient form me to become the new me. Live classes are up and running, retreats are back on. Zoom will stay as so many of you are enjoying this form of teaching. In otherwords things are busier so I need to step up my self care in order to rise up to this busy period of teaching. If any of this resonates with you let me know. We can figure out a way of rising to the best version of you while being mindful of your own energy stores.
