Book a Class

Back to school can be both energising and overwhelming.

3 weeks in, how is everyone doing? What has been lost? What has been found? This time of year can be both energising & overwhelming. The excitement of the new year brings so many emotions it’s a great time to check in with what exactly you want from this new year. I am reminded as I embark on more studies that daily routines are so important.

This is a busy house, to get some time and space to myself I get up earlier than everyone else. Beginning the day with quiet and 5 minutes meditation. Why?…because it works, it resets the body and brain to invite calmness in. There is so much science to back up how good meditation is for you. The mind and body are interconnected systems and this is what meditation does, it allows you to connect to your Whole Self. Honestly it doesn’t have to be anything fancy just a chair, get comfortable, set a time for 2 minutes, close your eyes and focus on your breath as an anchor. Don’t expect to stop thinking because that isn’t the purpose, just sit there and notice what happens. Following your breath each time a thought arises.

Next up is kids, breakfast, lunches, animals, daily schedules, music, sport it’s all part of each day. Some-one always forgets something, including the adults! Then a walk. We all know the benefit of getting some exercise in in the early morning. The light, the blue sky, the green grass all help to set you up for a good day but also a great night sleep that night.

Then work, begin to notice how creating time in your schedule for your full health allows you to take back time. The rush you felt before is no longer there or if it comes back occasionally that’s ok. It’s not permanent.

These practices of slowing down, building sustainable healthy routines are part of being on retreat with me. I will be in Ibiza next week and can’t wait to welcome you to this amazing island. You can also join in The Deerstone for a day retreat November 15th for a day of developing your own wellbeing plan and seeking how to sustain it. Book in or more info here.

Have you experience a Sound Bath? The power of sound post yoga works to align the practice with your inner vibrations. An experience to evoke peace, calm & clarity. A full-body listening experience that intentionally uses sound to invite gentle yet powerful therapeutic and restorative effects of the mind and body. This is not to be missed. Check out Emma’s work. She has worked in the NCH, Electric Picnic with many corporates and events around Ireland.

To bathe in nature is to realign, so each Saturday at 11am set aside the time to come to Park Yoga. Make it a non negotiable in your diary. You can book in here.

Grá mór,

Chris

Outdoor Yoga for relaxation and inner peace

What a week! The Summer Solstice has certainly fed my energy. I’ve been to Queens’ tennis club, attended a Gabor Maté conference, taught classes, held a Summer Solstice event, held a retreat in Lisnavagh and topped it off by dancing all day Sunday at Beyond The Pale. More of Gabor Maté in another post, I truly need to process the learnings.

As I write I know exactly what I need this week – outdoor yoga. An intentional pause at the midpoint and end of the week. So please join me Wednesday 7.30pm at Seapoint, it’s set to be 22 degrees so let’s flow and watch the sunset. Optional dip after? Or if you’re more a Saturday person, then join me Saturday 11am in Herbert Park, it’s looking like about 18 degrees.

Practicing in nature allows you to tune into relaxation and inner peace. Flowing listening to the leaves blow gently in the summer breeze or the sea lapping across the shore. The rhythms and pace of it all is spellbinding. Book in here.

You can extend your summer energy by joining me in Ibiza this September, for full info and booking click here, the last few rooms are now available.

If the busyness of my week resonates with you then join Margaret and myself this November in The Deerstone for a day of connection, reflection and sustenance. Full information here.

Have a wonderful week dear friends,

See you under the trees or at the sea

x Chris

Sunshine all day long…

With this amazing sunshine all day long it is the perfect time to think about what to do with this sun and full moon energy. Here are positive things to think about for June. Can you capture each moment, journalling, images. Make some time for frivolity, a sunrise swim is amazing. If you haven’t tried it before it’s the nicest time of year to give it a go. Remember to rest, summer energy can quickly cause burn out so get plenty of sleep and drink loads of water. Celebrate your successes, exams, promotions, winning in your relationships. Enjoy those around you, hold their hands, look into their eyes, kiss them and tell them you love them.

Classes this week will be invitations to listen to your intuition, enjoy the peace & solitude in your own space on your mat. Keep your inner light shining x

Choosing wisely how you spend your time..

Choose how you spend your time wisely. Because the fact is that small habits make a huge difference on your every life. I am currently reading James Clear, ‘Atomic Habits’, in this book he explains that the impact of everything you do is in everything you do, how you feel and how your life is. Simply how & when you wake, how you spend your mornings, who you spend time with. Who has access to your energy and the impact all of this has on your life.

The past 2 weeks have been amazing weather wise here in Ireland. The sun has shone every day. Outdoor Yoga has been amazing, numbers are growing in each class while in studio and online numbers are down. This tells me people love being outside, touching the soft green grass beneath, reaching up to the blue sky overhead. Spending time in nature is so important to us humans, we need that connection to Mother Earth. Such a wise way to spend time. As we know we are mere reflections, fractals of nature herself. Choose wisely.

Join me at Seapoint this Wednesday for Sunset Yoga with Hawthorne tea. We will flow under the beauty of the sky, listening to sounds of the birds prepare for their evening, the sea lapping to the shore. The soft grass beneath you as you let go of the day. Bring your swimsuit if you fancy a dip after. Sign in here. Last week I travelled to the Hill of Tara with Aoife ní hEochaidh and took part in a Huath fire ceremony. Lots of learnings about our native grandmother tree, she’s still in bloom at the moment keep an eye out for her and say hi when you see her.

The last few places for Ibiza are now available, if you’re thinking of it just do it. Join me September 21st-24th on this magical island for yoga, fire ceremony, fun and frolics. Join here, there are options to share or have your own room and payment plans in place also to spread the payments.

Reading this week –

‘Sam Harris, Waking Up’. A book that explores consciousness, religions (Eastern & Western), mindfulness, yoga, change, happiness all the themes pertinent to the human experience.

‘James Clear, Atomic Habits‘. Exploring the impact of the little, everyday things we do that make the composite everything of our lives.

Coming back to Park Yoga, sunset yoga & much more

Teaching and living in a yoga space has been the most wonderful way for me to be of service on this planet. It allows me to meet the most interesting and open people (that’s you by the way). During my meditation this morning I met so much resistance that I had to pause, feel into what was pushing me away from reaching a calm state, note the body part that was creating the resistance. The practice of simply observing, not labelling but noticing where the resistance is in my body became my sole practice this morning. It gave me a greater appreciation of how we all struggle sometimes, the learning is in the knowing and acceptance.

During these weeks of being away with part of my family, these early morning moments to myself have been golden. Carving out time each morning for meditation while the sunrise trickles across my face. Walking for as long as I can before stopping for tea where I can. All these practices fill my cup and allow me to greet each new day. When I make time to appreciate life to embrace my yoga & be present life becomes more whole. Yesterday while I sat by myself in a little bakery, I drank my tea, ate my pastry and gave thanks for each part of my life. The coming back to gratitude is all part of living a whole life. It’s an essential part of each day.

“Acknowledging the good that you already have in your own life is the foundation for all abundance”

Eckhart Tolle

Oh the light, it fills my soul

woman standing looking at the sunrise over the Irish sea

Times can be tough for all of us, you move between having stuff figured out and then bam something happens and you are thrown off course. You start to doubt yourself, you start to berate yourself, you wonder why you bother and then boom you are in total disarray and chaos sets in. But each morning there is sunrise, there is light, there is newness and there is an opportunity to embrace that newness.

In my reading this morning at sunrise Desikachar reminded me that Yoga is a modality that allows deep insight and wisdom to get through these tough times. That Jñana yoga allows me space to know that all knowledge lied hidden within me. Bhakti yoga teaches me that I serve a higher power far greater than myself. Mantra to protect me when I need that protection. Rāja yoga to honour the king that resides within me, the purusa, the Self. Karma yoga to know that my effort in everything I do is not determined by outcome but rather by action. Kriyā yoga looking inside, practice, practice, practice.

Final call for Sunday’s workshop on Compassion with Dr. Jane Uyger. An afternoon for learning about compassion, restorative yoga, Cacao & the most amazing food lovingly prepared by Lisa Davies. Book in here.

Some kind words from Jayne Hardy –

Being our true selves opens us up to rejection. Even though we can’t be everyone’s cup of tea, whoever we are….There are times when fear tells is that we won’t get through this. We don’t have what it takes. We’re not strong nor brave enough…Love is what we need, don’t believe fear when it diminishes who you are and who you could be….You will get through this. You absolutely have what it takes. You are strong and brave. You are deserving of all the wonderfulness there is.

Compassion, what does it really mean?

compassion, yoga, yoga workshop, yoga Dublin, Yoga near me

Have you every heard of the 2 arrows? It’s a Buddhist parable that allows insight into how we deal with suffering more skilfully. Being struck by one arrow that’s painful, but being struck by two arrows well that’s worse right. Things happen all the time, I spoke yesterday about how I could win every tennis match if the person at the other side of the net simply wasn’t there. But, if you start complaining, blaming yourself or worse still blame others, if you get angry for what’s happened you set off the second arrow.

So the pain of the second arrow can be a choice. Thich Nhat Hahn when asked about pain, despair and suffering answers beautifully. “The skill is how to lay down the burden in order to be light. Do not amplify your pain or exaggerate the situation.” I find it so interesting that the second arrow is not twice as painful but can be 10 times 20 times worse. You can watch his reply here.

On March 26th we will gather for the final time in this series of workshops. The theme this month is Compassion. We worked in January on reflection, taking note of how 2022 was, taking time to see how you needed to move forward. February was super powerful where we shifted out of habitual patterns of mindsets and behaviours. This third workshop will bring your learnings together and solidify all of this into Compassion for yourself. That’s where it all begins, happiness is an inside job.

The day will begin with a welcoming circle, we will then be together for a gentle Yoga Asana practice. Dr. Jane Uyger will then talk in depth about what compassion really is. The work she is doing in this field and share her research and insights on this topic.

Lisa Davies will then bring us her amazing food, which really is the most wonderful way to be together and round off the afternoon. The final places are available now and you can join us here.

For the days that feel overwhelming –

You’re a human being. In our quest to get everything completed, we’ve stopped hearing how we feel and what we need…. We’re on a conveyor belt, whirring around and around…..But we can press pause. We can. Really. Stopping doesn’t change our worth; we’re worthy whether we’re doing or not doing. The people who feel we’re not worthy when we stop, aren’t worthy of our attention, love or energy.

Pressing pause gives us that breather, that breath, that space to hear and heed what’s going on for us before we’re forced to stop, because nobody can keep on going without a break… You don’t deserve a break, you need one, guilt free. Some things in life can wait, but your health? Not so much. Take care, prioritise and protect.

So be kind to yourself and to one another

Patterns, an opportunity to understand yourself, more.

Yoga retreat, Yoga class, Yoga Dublin, YogaHub, Yoga Hub, chrismolloyyoga, Yoga in Dublin

Everything in your experience is real and cannot be denied. But if you find yourself able to understand how you can be weighed down with obsessive, negative thoughts. Do you wonder where do these thoughts come from? I often have students tell me they wished they had the tool of Yoga earlier in life. But of course the answer here is that Yoga comes to you when you are ready to be open to it’s gifts, to it’s beauty and to your beauty.

In this circle we will learn to aid awareness of habitual patterns. Allow yourself to bring clarity, calm, detached and spiritual guidance from your inner self to your life. Time will confirm the affects you have on your growth and your inner peace. All knowledge lies within you, enjoy the discovery x

You can join me Saturday 25th at 3pm for a gentle but emotionally powerful Yoga practice, Cacao and delicious food book in here.

Also March is nearly sold out. If you wish to join me on March 26th for that circle then please click here.

Testimonials

I was so sad and sorry when my last yoga teacher decided to move home to Italy. I thought I would never find a better teacher & then… I found Chris. She delivers a wonderfully unique class which is a marriage of movement and breath. Her class delivers a complete workout for whatever level you’re at, whilst being easy on the body and calming the mind. I look forward to every class and have never felt stronger or better.

C. Horgan

Christine conveys an immense passion for yoga. Her energy is palpable. She also has a discerning understanding of how the body works when practicing yoga. I really enjoy her classes which leave me feeling full of positivity!

D. O’Reilly

Christine is a great yoga teacher and I recommend you give her a go.  She is very spiritual but her love of family and her surroundings come through clearly in her teaching - I have wished so many times to be with her in Dublin on the beach, in the studio, in the park! I have loved her classes via Zoom and her early morning Rise and Shine class has been a fantastic start to my day.  She is very knowledgeable and clearly puts a lot into planning each month and each week. Her classes are well prepared and she takes time to explain positions with variations too so that it is suitable for many levels. Having practised with her for 6 months, she keeps her practice interesting with different themes so that no 2 classes are completely the same.  I am loving my yoga journey with her and look forward to it continuing for many years.

N. Roberts

Absolutely love Chris’s yoga classes. It has become a staple part of my week to keep my mind clear and my body right. Chris is a fantastic teacher and I especially enjoy her meditation and reflections during class. Chris herself is such a fantastic person both inside and out and her light is infectious!
