It’s a grey wet start to the bank holiday Monday here in Dublin, and on days like this I like to remind myself that sometimes the day is hidden behind a cloud. We can get caught up in wanting sunshine and heat every day, but then we wouldn’t have the lush green of the grass. The weather is so beyond our control so why give it a second thought. We are here in Ireland, and it rains. Why spend time wishing it to be different, it’s futile. Why not respond by focusing on what you can control. Wear some layers and wet gear to go for a walk. Wear a hat when out for your swim. Outdoor yoga would need to pushed out by an hour or so. Build you inner steadiness, minimise the affects of external forces.
Catching ourselves when we get caught in our desire for something else is a practice to consider each time we come to our mat. We can look around us, what the other person is doing or not doing. Judging ourselves, judging others, cursing the weather! Module 2 of The Curious Yogi is tonight 7-9pm. We will look at Āsana, the roots of āsana from the major texts and teachings. The invitation will be to go inside and see what this physical practice actually means to you. You can join us for these last 3 modules by clicking here.
