Building your Yoga Practice

Hello yogi friends,

I am back from Ibiza, a place of white sand, lots of yoga, house music everywhere and relaxing energy. This is the perfect spot for Retreat so keep your eyes open for a Yoga Retreat in Ibiza for 2022! As I gaze into the sunset in the picture above I am thinking about my Yoga Practice for Autumn and wonder have you given thought to perhaps Building your Yoga Practice?

Autumn is a wonderful time of year, a time of renewal, all around we can see evidence of the Earth beginning to slow down, to begin the process of renewing herself. If we follow suit it can be the best time of year to let go of what no longer serves you. What does that mean? Simply stop doing the things that make you unhappy, that make you feel less than. This season of change is the earth’s offering to let go. So try it, write it down, scream it out and then burn that paper, let your lungs explode with sound. Then let me know how you get on.

Remember there is no right or wrong, only truth. Discover your truth, be the most amazing bloody human being you can be, you bloody rock star! Our classes for Autumn will be all about this process of renewal, of letting go, of setting intention to each part of our practice. Working with this pranic energy, prana shakti. Maybe you’ll get more vitality, more balance, more well- being. Yoga is a path of skill in action, let’s see how we get on.

Starting Monday 04th we are going to embark on a plank challenge. What does this involve? Simply join me for different planks 3 days a week, each class lasts 30 minutes. Which is not 30 minutes of. holding planks! Nope lots of rest between. These classes are all pre-recorded. We begin warming up the body, then move into breaking down forearm, side plank and of course full plank variations. There will be lots of knees on the floor building up to full plank. This is simply an offering to allow you to dip into building strength in the core of who you are. You will feel stronger, more resilient and it will be worth while taking note how you feel physically. If you would like to join me for this plank challenge click here. You can do these classes whenever in the day suits you. It will 30 minutes of fun I promise. No need to sign up each day, once you have bought the pass you are then automatically sent the recordings each week.

Yoga for Autumn, how to practice outside

Yoga classes Dublin

As we move into a slightly cooler time of year, with typical Autumn temperatures in Ireland between 14 – 20 degrees, here are some ways you can practice yoga for this season. If you still fancy Zoom classes there are 3 on offer each week. Tuesday is all about building strength. Thursday is the slow down Yin class. Saturday is a power Vinyasa. Yoga for Autumn, how to practice outside, really it’s just the same as every other time of year. If it’s warm bring water, it’s cold wear an extra layer. Join me at Seapoint, Dun Laoghaire or Herbert Park.

If you are need socks for outdoor practice, have a look at these. Not an endorsement, I wear these and they’re great for winter. An extra layer under your mat can be nice, buy this type of product at your local garden centre, look here.

At the forty foot over the past few mornings, the sunrise has been hit and miss. But there is certainty in greeting the day at sunrise, waiting to see that ball of yellow, pink or just sometimes watch the clouds roll by and watch the light of day appear without the vibrant colours. We humans are designed to rise and sleep with the earth’s cycle of day and night. If you want to listen to wise words from Shaw Stephenson talk to Rich Roll about this click here.

I was so sad and sorry when my last yoga teacher decided to move home to Italy. I thought I would never find a better teacher & then… I found Chris. She delivers a wonderfully unique class which is a marriage of movement and breath. Her class delivers a complete workout for whatever level you’re at, whilst being easy on the body and calming the mind. I look forward to every class and have never felt stronger or better.

Christine conveys an immense passion for yoga. Her energy is palpable. She also has a discerning understanding of how the body works when practicing yoga. I really enjoy her classes which leave me feeling full of positivity!

Christine is a great yoga teacher and I recommend you give her a go.  She is very spiritual but her love of family and her surroundings come through clearly in her teaching - I have wished so many times to be with her in Dublin on the beach, in the studio, in the park! I have loved her classes via Zoom and her early morning Rise and Shine class has been a fantastic start to my day.  She is very knowledgeable and clearly puts a lot into planning each month and each week. Her classes are well prepared and she takes time to explain positions with variations too so that it is suitable for many levels. Having practised with her for 6 months, she keeps her practice interesting with different themes so that no 2 classes are completely the same.  I am loving my yoga journey with her and look forward to it continuing for many years.

N. Roberts

Absolutely love Chris’s yoga classes. It has become a staple part of my week to keep my mind clear and my body right. Chris is a fantastic teacher and I especially enjoy her meditation and reflections during class. Chris herself is such a fantastic person both inside and out and her light is infectious!
