As we move deeper into Autumn I find myself wanting to spend more time outside in the daylight. It is well known that we can feel a little low and really not on our best form during the darker months. As we still have 10 hours of sun light it really is worth getting out and reaping the benefits of sun light. To get morning sun on your eyes and skin ignites a cascade of hormones and neurotransmitters which make you feel good.
It’s simply that good. Sunrise is around 8.06am there or thereabouts over the next week. Give it a go, take a walk around this time, watch the sunrise. Let the gentle early morning light bathe your retina and help you feel good for the day. Morning light contains no UVA or UVB rays just infrared and blue light. Blue light wakes you up, raising cortisol levels activated when blue light hits your pituitary gland. It sets your circadian rhythm for the day.
It also sets you up for a good night’s sleep. If you have been joining me for Cacao first thing in the morning take your walk after you drink and journal and take the time to notice how each day unfolds.
