Book a Class

Straight from my ❤️ to yours

Hello loves,

As I write this I have drunk my Cacao and am watching the dawn break in Dublin. It’s a beautiful morning, still 13 degrees and lots of blue and orange in the sky. Yesterday in the park we had so many reminders of Mother earth supporting us. The sky was slightly grey but bountiful in gifts of warmth and calm. The ground was soft and the feeling of lying in Savasana was amazing. The leaves under us provided a cushioned layer.

Recently in class I have been playing a song called Decision for Savasana. It’s a beautiful song by a Brazilian artist called Silvio Piesco. He’s an artist who spans music, visual art and photography, all these disciplines for a curious mind. Some-one who deep dives into lots of creative spaces. The song is a lesson in choice. In how you greet each day. You have a decision to make with each breath, each movement, each word, each way you spend your energy. Have a listen, let me know what you think.

At the start of each day we all have a decision, with that first morning breath you can choose the day you are going to have. Let your first words and thoughts be kind, be of love, be of compassion. The early morning hours are a calling to make the journey back to your inner self. In ancient times (and if you come on a yoga retreat with me) people would rise early, bathe, perform ritual, recite mantra and meditate. When my kids were young each morning I would cuddle them and tell them to wash away the night from their bodies, they still remember this. Then in the evening the ancients would wash away the day’s fatigue and meditate some more.

Sunday December 04th will echo this evening energy. The yoga class will be about devotion and introspection. Praising the sun, the wind, the fire, the rain. We will honour the seasons, the cycles of day, birth, death and rebirth. The Cacao ceremony will ignite your inner fire and allow you space to create what 2023 looks like for you. The food you eat and the conversations that flow will all be in a safe held space where you will hopefully feel totally sustained and held for the entire day and beyond.

Each class I teach, each event I curate, each retreat I design it is with the intent of sharing love, I hope you feel this love.

December Gathering, Retreat at Fumbally

Join me Sunday December 04th as we embark on a journey towards the Winter solstice. December can be such a busy time for us all. We can find ourselves being pulled in so many ways. This day is an offering to slow down. We will begin with a yoga class lead by Chris Molloy. The class will be a Bhakti class filled with devotion for yourself. An offering of love and gratitude for the year that has passed and welcoming the light of the year ahead. The space will be there for you to rest, restore and recharge. Being together, practicing yoga together, supporting one another, showing up for every woman in the room.

Following this will be a Cacao ceremony lead by Nicky Halliday. Nicky discovered ceremonial cacao in Costa Rica over 4 years ago and developed a beautiful relationship with this incredible heart opening medicine. Her mission was to spread the word in Ireland when she returned. She has now shared cacao with over a thousand people in Ireland and around the globe. She believes cacao helps us to connect deeper to ourselves and the world around us. Helping to awaken our intuition, our creative essence and our inner healers. “To live with an open heart is a brave thing to do, and mama cacao facilitates this journey so beautifully”.

After our time with Yoga & Cacao we will then journal. Journalling is a way of connecting to what really lies within you. At this time of year it’s a way of checking in with how your year has been and maybe deciding how you will move into the New year. It can be about asking inner questions and having the time to hear the answers. The combination of yoga, Cacao and journalling allows you to really tap in to what lies ahead for you for the new year.

Then Lisa Davies (who I am so happy to work with again) will nourish us with delicious vegetarian seasonal food. Lisa, originally from Wales, moved to Ireland via the US about five years ago. She loves cooking and trained at the French Culinary Institute in NYC and then started a cookery school in Montclair, NJ. She teaches cooking at Airfield Estate and also does private cooking classes. She is a wonderfully talented cook, whose food is seasoned with love and warmth true to her personality and love of sharing her knowledge.

Prepare your body & mind for colder, darker times

I was reading an article during the week about SAD (Seasonal Affective disorder). Some people report craving carbohydrates, feeling lethargic and struggling to get out of bed in the morning. As this happens when light diminishes each year. It begins around now, and if you are are prone to this condition then it’s there until Spring. Quite a long time to live with it each year. Here’s an article from the NHS worth reading. If light and mood are part of a cycle of triggered by seasonal change how can you best Prepare your body & mind for colder, darker times?

There are lots of studies to show that pranayama, yoga, a morning walk can all help with getting your mind in a calm & centred space. Engaging actively in the world with diet, sleep, exercise & social interaction helps to reset your circadian rhythms.

If you wake feeling a bit crap, take a nice long inhale, pause for a moment then exhale for a little bit longer than your inhale. Do this a few times before you rise out of bed. Then place your hands on your heart centre or abdomen and say I love you. It’s a difficult time of year for our bodies to transition from Summer energy to Winter energy, be kind to yourself, be kind to those around you.

“Remember resilience is not about toughness it’s about approach”

Testimonials

I was so sad and sorry when my last yoga teacher decided to move home to Italy. I thought I would never find a better teacher & then… I found Chris. She delivers a wonderfully unique class which is a marriage of movement and breath. Her class delivers a complete workout for whatever level you’re at, whilst being easy on the body and calming the mind. I look forward to every class and have never felt stronger or better.

Christine conveys an immense passion for yoga. Her energy is palpable. She also has a discerning understanding of how the body works when practicing yoga. I really enjoy her classes which leave me feeling full of positivity!

D. O’Reilly

Christine is a great yoga teacher and I recommend you give her a go.  She is very spiritual but her love of family and her surroundings come through clearly in her teaching - I have wished so many times to be with her in Dublin on the beach, in the studio, in the park! I have loved her classes via Zoom and her early morning Rise and Shine class has been a fantastic start to my day.  She is very knowledgeable and clearly puts a lot into planning each month and each week. Her classes are well prepared and she takes time to explain positions with variations too so that it is suitable for many levels. Having practised with her for 6 months, she keeps her practice interesting with different themes so that no 2 classes are completely the same.  I am loving my yoga journey with her and look forward to it continuing for many years.

N. Roberts

Absolutely love Chris’s yoga classes. It has become a staple part of my week to keep my mind clear and my body right. Chris is a fantastic teacher and I especially enjoy her meditation and reflections during class. Chris herself is such a fantastic person both inside and out and her light is infectious!
