Oh the light, it fills my soul

woman standing looking at the sunrise over the Irish sea

Times can be tough for all of us, you move between having stuff figured out and then bam something happens and you are thrown off course. You start to doubt yourself, you start to berate yourself, you wonder why you bother and then boom you are in total disarray and chaos sets in. But each morning there is sunrise, there is light, there is newness and there is an opportunity to embrace that newness.

In my reading this morning at sunrise Desikachar reminded me that Yoga is a modality that allows deep insight and wisdom to get through these tough times. That Jñana yoga allows me space to know that all knowledge lied hidden within me. Bhakti yoga teaches me that I serve a higher power far greater than myself. Mantra to protect me when I need that protection. Rāja yoga to honour the king that resides within me, the purusa, the Self. Karma yoga to know that my effort in everything I do is not determined by outcome but rather by action. Kriyā yoga looking inside, practice, practice, practice.

Final call for Sunday’s workshop on Compassion with Dr. Jane Uyger. An afternoon for learning about compassion, restorative yoga, Cacao & the most amazing food lovingly prepared by Lisa Davies. Book in here.

Some kind words from Jayne Hardy –

Being our true selves opens us up to rejection. Even though we can’t be everyone’s cup of tea, whoever we are….There are times when fear tells is that we won’t get through this. We don’t have what it takes. We’re not strong nor brave enough…Love is what we need, don’t believe fear when it diminishes who you are and who you could be….You will get through this. You absolutely have what it takes. You are strong and brave. You are deserving of all the wonderfulness there is.

Kind Words for Unkind Days.

Patterns, an opportunity to understand yourself, more.

Yoga retreat, Yoga class, Yoga Dublin, YogaHub, Yoga Hub, chrismolloyyoga, Yoga in Dublin

Everything in your experience is real and cannot be denied. But if you find yourself able to understand how you can be weighed down with obsessive, negative thoughts. Do you wonder where do these thoughts come from? I often have students tell me they wished they had the tool of Yoga earlier in life. But of course the answer here is that Yoga comes to you when you are ready to be open to it’s gifts, to it’s beauty and to your beauty.

In this circle we will learn to aid awareness of habitual patterns. Allow yourself to bring clarity, calm, detached and spiritual guidance from your inner self to your life. Time will confirm the affects you have on your growth and your inner peace. All knowledge lies within you, enjoy the discovery x

You can join me Saturday 25th at 3pm for a gentle but emotionally powerful Yoga practice, Cacao and delicious food book in here.

Join me in studio Saturday 11am for the month of February.

February can bring so many different days, sunny big blue skies but also colder harsher days. So for the month of February I have hired out The Hive, a studio space in Herbert Park (there’s a link to it in your booking email) for us to practice indoors. You will still be in the park where we love to gather and practice Yoga. The class will be limited in numbers so if you wish to join please book your place here today.

This is what the space looks like from the outside so you know what to look for –

With the many changes in weather this month, it’s the time of year that asks questions. What can I change specifically in my life that no longer is of use to me? When we look at this is can throw up lots of emotions and so join me in February to Prepare.

Yoga retreat, Yoga Dublin, YogaHub, Yoga in Dublin

The theme of February’s circle is Prepare. The separation of set patterns can be painful, we are used to feeling and acting in certain ways. This day will help you to reset patterns and mindsets that heal and allow you to experience life in a new way. We will sit in a healing meditation taking note of what comes up and moving from this space.

After our Ãsana class we will draw awareness to our breathing patterns with a Pranayama practice. Following this you will enjoy Mama Cacao to fully absorb and bathe in all that is shifted throughout the day. I’m so happy the wonderful Lisa Davies is back to cook for us and so we will then enjoy a loving, nutritious meal together by candlelight. Book in here.

yoga retreat, Yoga Dublin

There is a nice buzz in the air, with lots of ways to practice together in 2023.

Wednesday 7.30pm Evening flow, a class to build strength and try a new Asana or 2.

Come join me Saturday at 11am in Herbert Park. Last week was beautiful, the key when we are outside is to wear a few warm layers, wool is a must so is a hat. Book in here.

If you are a member of YogaHub you can catch me in studio at Blackrock 6.15pm Friday, book via MindBody.

Preparing to come to stillness

Yoga classes Dublin

It is Samhain, the New year in the Celtic calendar. A time when the division between the worlds of physical and spiritual is thin. We enter into this darkest part of the year, the time of year when the underneath is calling. A time of year when the Earth prepares to become still, sleep and embrace itself. All this is done in earnest preparation for growth next year. Think of a little baby spending up to 18 hours a day sleeping, renewing, growing. We can echo Mother Earth and invite more rest into our lives, allowing more time to tap into and develop our inner resources. Can you offer yourself some time for meditation, gentler yoga practices, read by a fireside, eat heartier food, wrap up well and walk in the crisp Winter mornings.

Meditate

Allow your body & mind to rest in this gentler time of year. When we sit still, we allow our bodies to absorb what it needs. Perhaps you can choose this cold season to cultivate a meditation practice. Try to start out with 2 minutes per day. It will be hard at first, take breaks if you need to. See where it goes. If you find it hard to switch your mind off, you may need to take a walk first then sit somewhere perhaps a quiet park bench. Press your feet into the ground, your knees above your ankles. Bring awareness to your breath, count your inhale 1,2,3,4,5 pause and exhale perhaps for a little longer. You should begin to come into the rhythm of your breath and the count fades away, if you get distracted come back to the count.

Swimming this morning at The Forty Foot I was reminded of the splendour of this time, between Autumn equinox and the Winter Solstice. The clocks went back giving us an extra hour in bed, the light is so beautiful at the moment, the sun hangs low in the sky. When we turn to face the sun on the way from the buoys it is as if you are being invited back to shore by a warm hug. I often imagine someone is waiting on shore to hand me a hot cup of tea and a toasty towel. That person may not be there but the welcoming light is.

Yoga classes for August

Gone fishing, I’m heading off for a few weeks. I’m taking a break for the next few weeks and I’m very excited to be able to take this time to recharge. I’m going to make a hard and fast rule around work for the next few weeks so you won’t hear from me too much on social media or indeed via email. Being present in my teaching, is a creative process that takes work which is right, but and when so much energy goes into teaching, into creating yogic experiences, it’s work and I feel privileged to be able to have this as my work life but I also need to take a break. So below is the timetable of Yoga classes for August.

Being present for my family, for my friends, for myself it’s important also. Yoga has given me so much opportunity to connect with people on levels that honestly I did not think was possible, to open up to amazing joy in people. But I need to tune that energy into my family and into myself as that all gets a little set aside during the creative process of teaching, workshops, events. So my focus will be on them.

Taking time out allows us to ruminate or manifest what we really want in this world, I am lucky to have found my calling. This time will give me space to mull over the next step in my teaching journey.

In person classes –

Park Yoga Saturday 11am Herbert Park, Sarah Grey and Jen Flanagan will cover these classes so please continue to show up to these classes. You can sign up to this class here

Sunset beach yoga Wednesday 7.30pm, Caoimhe Shanley will cover these classes while I am away. You may have met Caoimhe in June when she covered this class. Please continue to support this class by signing up here

All other in person classes will recommence end of August.

If you have signed up to the 30 days of Yoga class pack you will receive a 30 day class pack of recordings. If you wish to purchase this class pack this simply click here.

Have a beautiful next few weeks, I hope you get an opportunity to spend time with those who are important to you.

Much love x

Chris

Testimonials

I was so sad and sorry when my last yoga teacher decided to move home to Italy. I thought I would never find a better teacher & then… I found Chris. She delivers a wonderfully unique class which is a marriage of movement and breath. Her class delivers a complete workout for whatever level you’re at, whilst being easy on the body and calming the mind. I look forward to every class and have never felt stronger or better.

C. Horgan

Christine conveys an immense passion for yoga. Her energy is palpable. She also has a discerning understanding of how the body works when practicing yoga. I really enjoy her classes which leave me feeling full of positivity!

D. O’Reilly

Christine is a great yoga teacher and I recommend you give her a go.  She is very spiritual but her love of family and her surroundings come through clearly in her teaching - I have wished so many times to be with her in Dublin on the beach, in the studio, in the park! I have loved her classes via Zoom and her early morning Rise and Shine class has been a fantastic start to my day.  She is very knowledgeable and clearly puts a lot into planning each month and each week. Her classes are well prepared and she takes time to explain positions with variations too so that it is suitable for many levels. Having practised with her for 6 months, she keeps her practice interesting with different themes so that no 2 classes are completely the same.  I am loving my yoga journey with her and look forward to it continuing for many years.

N. Roberts

Absolutely love Chris’s yoga classes. It has become a staple part of my week to keep my mind clear and my body right. Chris is a fantastic teacher and I especially enjoy her meditation and reflections during class. Chris herself is such a fantastic person both inside and out and her light is infectious!
